Version notes

Two versions of PicoScope 7 Automotive are available; Stable and Early Access.

Stable: After thorough testing by the automotive team, this software is judged to be suitable for use in the workshop. It can include features that are in beta where they are robust but not yet complete.

Early Access: This version provides early access to the latest features and fixes so that you can try them out and send us early feedback. This keeps us on the right track and gives us an opportunity to catch and fix any new bugs so that they are less likely to make it into the stable version.

PicoScope 6 should only be used for those features not yet released in PicoScope 7 or by users running 32-bit operating systems. When all features are available in PicoScope 7, PicoScope 6 will then be retired.

Picoscope Automotive 7.1.21 Stable Release notes

New Features in PicoScope 7

Measurements
  • Introducing Measurement Logging! By recording your Measurements data directly to an external CSV file during capture, the new feature benefits users who require long-term data logging of measured parameters. Use the limit controls to stop recording after a specified time or number of captures.
  • New Measurement Pass/Failure Limits added, giving a visual indication within the measurement lozenges whenever a measurement value is greater or less than a set pass/failure limit. This can be set up with Actions to play a sound or fire off a sequence of Action callbacks whenever a measurement goes above or falls below the set pass/failure limit. It's also possible to filter out your captured waveforms in the waveform navigator to only show the waveforms that have passed/failed the set measurement limit.
Serial Decoding
  • New PSI5 (Peripheral Sensor Interface) Serial Decoder has been added.
  • Starting Edge control added to Manchester decoder for RC-5 decoding.
Triggering
  • Added a new Rise / Fall time trigger type, allowing the ability to trigger on a signal with a specified rise or fall time.
Timebase/Sampling
  • Control added to enable / disable showing the previous waveform while in progressive streaming capture mode.
General
  • Translations have been updated.

New Features in Waveform Library, Waveform Management, and Guided Tests

  • Text added to the Waveform Manager screen to describe the function of the screen.
  • Drag & Drop import of waveforms from psdata files.

  • Probe and channel setup for settings files will now be correctly loaded if the channel is turned off.
  • Fix for problem with offset being applied erroneously to AC signals with some BNC+ accessories.
  • Removed unnecessary probe details from the channel lozenges when using BNC+ probes.
  • Probe images clearer to see in dark theme.
Siggen / AWG
  • AWG CSV files can now be imported with either comma or point decimals.
Zoom
  • Fixed issue where filtered channels may not show the applied filtering when zoomed out for very long captures.
Startup/Reset Configuration
  • Startup Settings and Reset Config will automatically be set to User Default Settings after saving the User Default Settings in the Save dialog.
General
  • Fixed popups sometimes opening on the wrong screen or in the wrong place when using multiple monitors with different DPI scaling.

Bug Fixes in the Waveform Library, Waveform Management, and Guided Tests

PicoScope Automotive 6.14.69 Release notes

New features

  • Support for all 4823 devices, including those manufactured since January 2023.

Bug fixes

  • Various bug fixes in PicoScope 6 Automotive and PicoDiagnostics

Note: PicoScope 6 Automotive and PicoScope 7 Automotive handle the new PicoScope 4425A and 4225A models differently: Generally a .psdata file can be opened in both PicoScope 6 Automotive and PicoScope 7 Automotive. However, if it has been saved in PicoScope 7 Automotive using a 4425A or 4225A device then PicoScope 6 Automotive cannot recognise the probe settings. In this case, to open a file correctly in PicoScope 6 Automotive, remove any connected PicoScope device and connect a demo device so that PicoScope is in demo mode. You will then be able to load your file.
