The fifth star missing is because there is no signal generator. I purchased a 2204A just for the signal generator. Otherwise excellent and great forum/support. Highly recommended.

Prior to my retirement in 2015, I visioned going into diagnostics (after 26 years of working with Chrysler and having a mechanics license since 1991) among the equipment I had to get hold of was an Oscilloscope. I did my diligence and concluded that PICO was the way to go…I was glad I did the right decision. I am continously learning and it seems that Pico keep on raising its level of standard; after sales service is excellent, information dessimination is amazing via forum, among others, is amazing. I would 100% recommend this product. I just hope Toronto, Canada be included in its yearly tech conferences.

Coil On Plug (COP) and Signal Probe

This is my review of the new Pico secondary ignition probe. Ive had a chance to use it a few times and wondering why I put up with the old one for so long, the new probe is amazing and works great seems accurate and is not that fussy where you put it on the coil like the old one. I would recommend you buy one, I’m very impressed with it and look forward to using it on other vehicles.

We all love the picoscope here. \We already had the COP probe and amp clamps, so the starter kit works for us. We are taking the NAPA training and looking forward to the May session of wave form analysis.. We found a Snap an old Councillor 2 with boom and stripped it down, retrofitting the Pico with its gear and a nice big laptop. It is a great fit to a well equipped shop that loves to diagnose modern day vehicles. The Pico scope is a welcome addition. Cant believe we lived with out it so long..  No one picks up the Snap non scope anymore…

I’ve been using this for automotive diagnostics, the hardware is excellent but do have issues with software.
I was drawn to this product as they do provide regular free updates but this is what I’ve found.

Pico Diagnostics is simply not reliable, You can repeat test like cylinder balance or relative compression and the results are not consistent

Picoscope Automotive basics is excellent, over the 10+years I’ve owned a Pico, new features have been added but some software versions is not stable and crashes, also found some new features buggy and later removed rather than fixed - what’s going on here???

In Poland not many people know what is the pico and what does it can. I bought it because I want to be really good car specialist and I want to be able to see much more then typical diagnostic tester or multimeter can show me. I want to diagnose many difficult faults, that are in many cases not possible to find without sophisticated scope like pico. The most important for me is the free pico software where is updated constantly. Can and lin protocols decoding features shows me that Pico is developing himself and wants to be on time with the technology. Pico it’s my best investition.

I really like using these jumper harnesses for checking waveforms on multiword sensors and actuators.
Especially when you need a current reading. Unplug the actuator and put this harness in series. There you go, now you can check voltages and
current. Very well built harnesses. Beware of knockoffs!!!

Black Protective Rubber case for PicoScope 4423 and 4223

These covers are a perfect fit. Anything gets on my scope, I am able to wipe it off with a
rag. This also gives you a loop in which to hang your scope with the S hook.
It keeps the scope out of the way, the S hook helps hold the cables up and off the floor.
so no one trips on them and rips them out of your scope. That would be a very expensive mistake.

10:1 Attenuator

Another product that comes in Pico Scope kits. These are a must for protecting your scope.
The last thing I want to be without is my scope. so in order to protect it from voltage overload
I use an attenuator anytime the voltage I’m testing is over 200v. Check your scope for max voltage
range(as these differ) Also, when I need something so important- I want to use top of the line. I will not
trust any Chinese or generic attenuator to protect my investment.

There are a ton of secondary pickups on the market. most of them will work with your Pico.
This newer style works extremely well. I have one that works almost as good, but it was almost twice the cost also.
So for the money, the low noise waveforms that this wand produces is a good buy.

20 A / 60 A DC (low amps) current clamp

This current clamp came in the kit I bought from Pico. I can not imagine using the full potential of my scope without
this low current clamp. Pico does a great job of adding the hardware devices into the scope software. so it is plug and use.
Be sure to tell the scope that you are using the current clamp(i made that mistake)
The craftsmanship of the current clamp is very good, gives good traces. I am considering a 2nd clamp for dual traces.

Instead of guessing and replacing. Now i am sure that something will fix it. It is such a piece of mind knowing instead of guessing.

WPS500X Pressure Transducer

Great, great, great product!
This must be the best kept secret in car problem diagnostic. I have an old Jaguar MK2 (actually I maintain 4 Jags) and had some problem with light but only occasional misfire. I blamed the ignition and bought a Picoscope. Great but nothing pointing to misfires. Of course OBD II had not been invented so my last resort was a pressure transducer. I stacked my pennies and started learning everything I could find about pressure transducer on the internet. Also bugging poor Steve from Tech Support and off I went into the future of modern diagnostic.
1) cranking exhaust measurement ..... nothing wrong.
2) idle exhaust measurement ..... whoops, misfire. Is it a valve seating problem?
3) cranking in-Cylinder test .... nothing wrong.
4) idle in-Cylinder test ...... now here it was right in front of my eyes. Valve timing was way off.
Some previous owner must have set the camshaft precisely and in his infinite wisdom tightened the timing chain thereafter. Intake was 8 degrees off and exhaus cam 16, which led to a massive overlap between the valves of over 45 degrees and sent unburned fuel into the exhaust where it eventually burned.
Without the WPS500X I could not have solved that problem. I admit there is a steep learning curve to such tools but it pays hundrefold when mastered.
Since that day I have proven to my wife that her Renault Espace has no Piston Ring problem and the gas smell in the oil was only from short distance driving during winter ops. Now most of my friends don’t visit anymore because thy fear I would find anything wrong with their car.
So anyone worth his money MUST have that gadget, there is no way around. I am stashing the pennies again to buy a second one for combined measurement in exhaust and cylinder or intake and cylinder. (One is normally sufficient but I am too excited about it so I must have two 😊

Whe upgraded from the Pico 4423 to the 4425. Both are perfect scopes.
The great points of the Pico scopes:
- Fast and easy set up.
- Measuring speed.
- Creating your own probes or measuring channels.
- Good service, the guy’s at Pico are always willing to help with diagnosing problem cars.

Whe have more scopes, but non of them come close to the performance of the Pico.

WPS500X Pressure Transducer Kit (with carry case)

Easy to use, you don’t have to worry about oil or fuel damaging the transducer.
This tool has great resolution, you can do things like diagnose a clogged injector by looking at the fuel pressure pulse, find a clogged exhaust by measuring in cylinder pressure etc.
The transducer and the other products in the case are good quality.

I arrive from Bosch school and i worked with your products, but for me, now Pico is highter than Bosch, so I think that Pico has many strengths , portable case, high bandwidth, lot of accesory (NVH, WPS etc..) , amazing software with hundreds of functions… but especially, for me, is the mentality and the passion for research and development, qualities that have brought innovations such as : the free software to date, the vaweforms of the reference and the library… all this with little cost ... thanks for your job.
For me there is only one small defect, I would improve the USB and BNC connectors, if Pico is used as a portable oscilloscope remains a little weak.

I love this COP probe. It makes light work of hard to access coil packs that would require large amounts of component strip to test in other ways. The waveform produced is always clear and it is easy to come to the conclusion that you have a faulty ignition system component.

Absolutley brilliant. Well worth saving for and getting what is renown as THE BEST! The guided drop down section is fantastic for helping get the right connections for the test being done and to get the scope settings right. This kit has made me hungry for more information and diagnostic experience.  It even came in handy at home on a boiler failure. I tested the modulated gas valve and the flame failure device. So it even got me brownie points from Her In Doors, can’t say any better than that!

Just to add, the test lead arrangements with the “banana” type plugs are dead good,with the advantage of a really good connection with croc clips and even dedicated back probing pins that fit on the end of the actually lead (no need for croc clips onto pins)

WPS500X Pressure Transducer Kit (with carry case)

An excellent, versatile product. Recommend you purchase the accessories (fuel hose taps, hose adaptors, M18 adaptor…) as these, with a little ingenuity, allow you to connect to a diverse range of models and makes. Start collecting an assortment of hose offcuts (1/4, 5/16, 3/8…), petrol line connectors, oil pressure pipe fittings etc and you will be able to hook into all sorts of things. To me, the diagnostic advantage comes into looking at the data over a time period with panning as opposed to a gauge which doesn’t give you these options. I use the M18 adaptor for blocked exhaust testing as it has the same thread as O2 sensors.

PicoScope 4225 2-Channel Automotive Oscilloscope

First of, I want to say that I am not an auto technician by trade. Being an enthusiast, it was a really hard decision for me to justify the money needed to buy a picoscope. I bought one anyway, because I thought it can be a really cool toy to play with. As of yet, I have used the picoscope to look at the waveforms on my car (have not really diagnosed anything). It was very easy to use, and setup. To my surprise, I am using the picoscope the most to calibrate pressure sensors for my PhD research. The size factor of the picoscope and its ability to take power from my laptop, made it an o-scope of my choice. The other o-scope I have is bulky and more tedious to setup.

Bottomline - I don’t regret even a single bit that I invested in picoscope. My only regret is that I don’t have enough time to use it on more automotive applications.

4 channel review for 3424 and 4423 auto scope kit. I made the transition from a Snap On Verus to the Pico. I no longer own a functioning scope it blow up due a lighting strike love to own the new 4425 kit one day. There is no other scope that compares to the detail and simplicity you get with Pico. The training and information others share is exploding. Users are eager to share their experience and knowledge. This scope is a step ahead it adapts with technology. Love to own it again one day. Whether a beginner or advanced user you are always learning. Thanks for the opportunity to write this review. Hope it helps others.

Being an automotive instructor, i get the benefit of using tools that would not usually be in an everyday shop. This hydraulic transducer is one of them. the quality of this one is the same as all of the other Pico test accessories. If you have used the WPS500. Then this will be the same. Theres just not enough space to talk about all of the time these save you.

200 A / 2000 A (high amps) DC current clamp

Bought this clamp recently to replace my non-Pico 600A clamp. What a difference.

I like the jaw size since it’s big enough to get around wires yet small enough to work in tight spaces.

Enough range to measure diesel starters and good resolution for low current measurements also.

Well and compared to my old clamp it’s almost noise free. Just wish I had bought it eralier.

WPS600C Hydraulic pressure transducer

The local Community College that I instruct for Part Time got a 4423 Kit from Case New Holland on order and in the kit it comes with two of these Transducers.  Another instructor and me tried it out on a Bulldozer looking at the pressures of the blade going left to right with current clamps on the solenoids.  Wow!  It will show the pressures exactly as the pressure builds and dumps when the solenoids turn on.  This Transducer is on my wish list.  This unit is going to work great for testing pumps and valves.  Can’t wait to get one! Thank you Pico!

Please note this review is for the 4423 Commercial Vehicle Kit that I ordered from Autonerdz.  This scope is awesome!  You can zoom in with such clarity to look at waveforms it is unbelievable.  Plus all the features you can use with the scope such as Math Channels, Reference waveforms, different scope views.  The main thing I like about this scope is the gigantic screens you can capture.  I use this feature on test drives so all I have to do is hook up the scope, drive it around the block and I don’t have to worry about looking at the scope because it is recording!  Awesome!  The only thing that will limit you in the use of this scope is your imagination.  If there are any HD Techs out there contemplating if they really need scope, you won’t be sorry if you purchase one of these units, it’s going to make you faster and more accurate in diagnostics, therefore less comebacks.  Plus with the awesome instruction of the Autonerdz crew and all the great Techs on the Autonerdz forum, I have become a better Technician.

Connector breakout lead kit B

These breakout leads are coming in handy.  I purchased a Acs 2 pin breakout from Autonerdz to hook up to a dosing valve on a Cummins ISL 9 Engine in a Transit bus.  This makes it very easy for me to get captures of the Valve Current, Voltage, and ground.  Thank you!  In fact keep these breakout leads coming!  I want to see more for the HD side please.

Being involved in vehicle diagnostics on a daily basis i can not rate this tool enough. Working for main dealers i have been trained on and used several different oscilloscopes in the past but every time i prefer and will use my own pico scope. The ability to actually see the fault is a great feeling for me and ensures a proper and efficient fix. When mentioning using the scope a lot of technicians shy away but it really is such a easy tool to use. The support from pico is great from the you tube channels to the seminars they hold. Really do recommend the pico package.

200 A / 2000 A (high amps) DC current clamp

This clamp is far better than the old clamp that used to come with the kits.  The resolution on the low 200 amp range is great!  I used it to look at Marine Pump Inrush current and regular operation and it looks just as good with the Low Amp Probe!  Plus it works great for relative compression, looking at High Current Motors, for me this is Evap Motors and Condensor Motors on New Flyer Transit Buses.  I also use the clamp all the time for Starting and Charging System testing.  A great clamp and I recommend to anyone who doesn’t have one yet to purchase one.

In my opinion this is the best Low Amp Clamp in it’s class.  It gives good repeatable signals every time.  I finally ordered another one from Autonerdz because the other backup one I had that I used with the Pico one showed to much noise and the amperage did not match the Pico clamp.  This is a great clamp and worth the money.  In fact I think this clamp is inexpensive compared to other Low Amp Clamps as in accuracy and how long it holds on zero before you have to zero the clamp again.  I use this clamp on Transit Buses to check Marine Pump Current, Ac Clutch Current, Cummins Lift Pumps, Defroster Motors, Floor Heaters.  I use it to help isolate circuit issues with computers where I have a circuit code and I want to distinguish it between being an open or short circuit.  I also use it to see if I have a sticking Electronic Epr Valve on Thermo King Ac Systems.  This is a great clamp and I would not substitute it with anything else.

WPS500X Pressure Transducer Kit (with carry case)

This Transducer Rocks!  I am a Transit Bus Technician and I use this Transducer to look at Engine Breathing issues on Cummins Engines.  The clarity is super sharp!  It’s like picking a needle out of a haystack!  I made a special adapter so I can hook up the Wps 500 directly to the Central part of the air Intake Horn to look at the Intake Valve Events and then I tap into the exhaust outlet after the Turbo for Exhaust.  It has helped me confirm Valve Train Integrity.  I have also used it to confirm Boost Pressure on Turbo Chargers whether it’s a standard Turbo or a VGT.  I match it with the Scan Tool to see if the Scan Tool is telling me the Truth.  I have also used it to verify Dpf Controllers that have internal pressure sensors.  Just hook up the Wps inline, drive it and look at the max pressure.  This tool has also been a time saver in finding and isolating fuel supply issues on Cummins Engines.  After I hook up the scope I can confirm or deny if the Fuel system has a supply issue on the low side of the system.  It cuts the troubleshooting tree time in half.  I have used this method now quite a few times and every time the test has been right on the money.  I am even starting to experiment with this on Thermo King Ac Systems to look at low and high side pressure at the Compressor to see if I can see the reed valves opening and closing and to see if I can catch one that sticks!  Plus the main thing that it is used for is In Cylinder Pressure Diagnostics.  I used it once to diagnose a problem on a Chevy Uplander with the help of Mick Jones from Autonerdz, a fellow member.  It works great.  The applications can be endless if you put your mind to it.  Anybody who does diagnostics with scopes should have one of these in their toolbox.  Your missing out!  Plus I would also like to thank Pico for having Autonerdz as a distributor.  Hands down they are the Pico Scope Authority on training you how to use one.  I wouldn’t be where I am at today without the help and support of Autonerdz.  Go Autonerdz!

I took a long time to switch from Fluke to Pico, but since doing so I have never looked back. I have a 4423 and now a 4425 and I use the 4425 every day. I sometimes use both together. For use with automotive diagnostics in my opinion, there is nothing close to Pico for the ease of use, complexity and resolution and price point. The continued development of the software and the superb support is without doubt the best reason to choose Picoscope. These tools just work and as I like to say; “The only restriction is your imagination”

injectors and all other outputs. very good tool

After using a Picoscope a few times on the job. I realized how
incredibly useful they were. After checking some of the other scopes on the
market and seeing the difference in sample rating. There is no match for PICO.
If you are serious about diagnostics, you need to get one!!!

A little bit more expensive than the 600a clamp. I use this clamp for hybrid cars and transit buses. Works very well .

20 A / 60 A DC (low amps) current clamp

I have 2 of these clamps, along with a Fluke low amp clamp. I rarely use my Fluke clamp now, as the Pico clamps work so well at a fraction of the cost. Although the rise-time spec may be a little less than the Fluke, the reality is that it doesn’t matter. These clamps just do the job.
Note: I would say the low amp range of around 10 to 30 milliamp has similar ‘drift’ as my Fluke clamp).
Great everyday clamps.

I purchased this clamp to replace my 1000amp Fluke clamp. I must say it is a great replacement, especially at the price comparison. The resolution and stability is excellent. Another great value tool from Pico.

Coil On Plug (COP) and Signal Probe

I put this tool to work after receiving it and found it to be really good. I had had questionable reviews on the previous model, whilst looking to buy one. This works very nicely, especially as it has a flexible neck and therefore get in some of the more restricted areas. I find it useful to just leave the software setting to 50~100mv range sometimes, if the COP insulation is too strong for the standard setting.
A definite worthy choice.

WPS500X Pressure Transducer

I was so impressed with this transducer, I now have 2 in my kit. After initially experimenting with the settings, I now mainly use the standard range selections and not the ‘zoom’ function. The ‘zoom’ function has it’s uses, but because the Pico software is so good and the resolution of the signal is so good, there is usually enough zoom function available, whilst maintaining the entire pressure spectrum. I have used this facility for looking at the detail of intake and exhaust valve function, as well as the many other uses, like injector back leakage and so on.
I really wouldn’t be without one now.

Purchased this to quickly diagnose COP ignition coils but found that it’s very useful for various parts. Common rail injectors, petrol injectors and solenoid valves are just a few to mention. Very good tool for quick evaluation before deeper inspection.

I was using older version (4423) scope for two years and lately upgraded to this new 4425. When old scope was just great then this new one is times 10 awesome. It’s faster, has more memory and I just love this new floating ground design.

I also have to mention that new case is much more suited for workshop use since it has protective case and BNC connectors are firmly installed.

And this very nice looking and easy to use software is just as important.
